Who is Kamalnath?


Kamalnath was born on 18 Nov 1946 in Kanpur ( Then United Provinces, British India). He was born in a businessman’s house. His father’s firm was involved in the exhibition and distribution of films, publishing, and trading power transmission. He had graduated from St. Xaviers College, Kolkata in Commerce.

Political career

During his political journey, He held many positions. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1980 from Indian National Congress. He was re-elected in 1984, and from then onward he was continuously re-elected to Lok Sabha. During his political journey, he has served as Union Minister. In 2018, INC was the biggest political party in Madhya Pradesh and He had taken Oath as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Kamalnath had very close ties with the Nehru – Gandhi Family. During his schooling in Doon School, he was a classmate of Sanjay Gandhi. Indira Gandhi famously referred to Kamalnath as his 3rd son. Older time slogans like ‘Indira ke do haath, Sanjay Gandhi and Kamalnath’ were popular slogans in the Chindwara election during 1980s.


During his political career, He has been considered as a prominent leader who always advocated the Development and Growth of India. He has always advocated for the economical growth of India and was considered as a stance supporter of the ‘PPP’ model.
Despite along with all the fame, there are some controversies which are associated with him.
